Please, i want to buy a P4 2.53A with 512 DDR333 and a Radeon 9700 PRO. What motherboard can fit in these specifications?
I thought about getting an ASUS P4S533 but it can be used only up to 2.2 GHz.
I have no interest in overclocking or additional stuff (as firewire, raid..).
Just a stable and performance-wise MB.

Please help me anyone who can, i'm searching for a good MB for quite some time and couldn't find any to fit :(

Thanks and sorry my poor english.

For what it is worth, here is what I am looking at. I am in the same rig upgrade route as you:

And a review: An&Tech

Asus P4S533 is the best for your needs in my opinion. It DOES support a P4 at 2.53GHz, the reason the box says up to 2.2 is because that was the fastest available at the time the board was designed. The P4S533 supports the 533MHz QDR FSB, meaning it can run your 2.53 just fine. I have one of these boards with a 1.8 (overclocked to 2.55) and Samsung DDR333 memory, it is a very stable and reliable chipset and high quality board. I'd highly reccomend it.

You're wrong, the P4S533 supports all current P4's. The information on the Asus website is simply outdated, Asus does that a lot with their website.

You're posting in a forum with class. It may be third class, but it's still class!

Do you know if this board works with DDR400 CL2?
I know ASUS with the same chipset doesn't ...

I'm not sure - but try the thread connected to the article - the An&Tech guys are quite responsive to feedback on their articles. I'd like to know too, so I'll watch for your post. Peace.

I just set up my new system w/ a P4 2.53 Ghz on an Asus P4S8X motherboard, and an ATI Radeon 9700 Pro. Everything runs AWESOME. I did however have to install the BETA BIOS for that board: BIOS 1004.002. You can get this at the ASUS web site.

The original BIOS was 1003A, but there is a known issue b/w this board (actually an issue with several 8X AGP mobos) and the ATI 9700. My symptom was random shut-downs. Like I said, once I flashed the bios to 1004, everything rocks! The board is loaded w/ features too.

3Dmark2001 SE score: 13950.
SYSTEM:
P4 2.53 GHz
Asus P4S8X
1024 MB DDR400 CAS2, Corsair
80GB Wester Digital SE
Lite-ON 48x16x48 burner
Sony 52X cdrom
Antec 480Watt PS
Lian-Li Aluminum Case
Microsoft KB and Optical Mouse
Windows XP SP1

It scored ~7900pts w/ 8x AA, 16x Antistropic Filtering

Good luck! Let me know if you have any questions regarding this motherboard.

Thanks! Yeah, I haven't had any trouble whatsoever after flashing my BIOS (knocking on wood). I checked the BIOS and 3DMark2001 SE reports AGP8X setting.

BTW, I just got MorrowWind to push the system and to try out a RPG for the first time. I'll let you guys know if any bugs pop up! (Still testing...burning in...etc...)
Edited by Flyboy on 09/22/02 04:28 PM.
