Forum Home Theatre Legacy : Laser Disc Players Pioneer CLD-A100(Laseractive) Issues

I've recently picked up a Pioneer Laseractive system off of Craigslist for a steal of a price(75$). I just couldn't pass up on it, as I was interested in buy a Laserdisc player for quite sometime. I was even able to start up my LD collection with the remastered edition of A Fish Called Wanda. I was pretty excited.

Unfortunately, as I placed the LD in the drive, and hit play, my player did nothing. I tried a few more times, then decided to look around on the internet. It seems some players have had issues with the spindle clam's rubber grip.

Basically, what the player does is spin up the disc, tell me it's on Side A, then it stalls. The disc slows down, and the player pretty much locks up, and I have to resort to powering it down.

This player was sitting in a basement for 14 years, so I think resurfacing the Spindle Clamp's rubber grip would possibly fix this problem.

Would anyone want to help me diagnose this problem? I just want some reassurance before I crack the player open to see if this is the issue. Anyone wanna help me out here?
