P4S8X or AS45GTR for DDR400/AGP8

I've been trying to decide on a new mobo to build a new system with primarily for gaming. I'm undecided as to whether to go with DDR at all, but presuming I do the top contenders seem to be these two boards (lots of nice features on each).

I've seen reports of both being unstable. Extremetech hated the shuttle board, did they have rev 1.2 like toms hardware did (who loved it)??. Here, lots of users have had issues with the ASUS board, but apparently the new flash update might fix it (Flyboy??). Also presuming they are stable with CAS2.5 ram, should CAS2 be a drop in upgrade?

Which way to go?

Some opinions I've read on the Shuttle board:

Shuttle AS45GTR:

"Overall, the AS45GTR was a grand disappointment. Due to its stability problems alone, we're hesitant to recommend it to anyone." - Extremetech

"Yet, Shuttle’s SiS 648 board was no where near as reliable with DDR400 as the 648 reference board was. We’ll be talking this over with motherboard makers very soon."
-anandtech

"The initial tests showed that the Shuttle board nearly reaches the same performance as the SiS reference board."
-THW

"The board is guaranteed to be stable. " - THW
