I am pulling my hair out trying to figure out why I can't share files/data between the two computers at home. I have a Linksys 4 port Etherfast Cable/Dsl router. Both are able to connect to the internet, and I have a Lan connection started and yet they can't see each other.
Yes. I have Zone Alarm Pro, and have configured it with the IP's for both computers, and subnets and dsn's also. It can read that there is a connection router but that is about as far as it goes.
Have you tried running the network wizard on each computer?
Can you see the other computers at all?
Are they set to the same workgroup and domain?
Have you set up folders or drives to be shared on each computer?
Run ipconfig on each computer to check IP addresses, subnet, etc.
1) Ran ipconfig on both and the host has changed IP address 3x since yesterday from the dsl connection.
2) Ran Network Wizard on both and still only able to connect from Host computer through router.
3) Guest computer is not seeing the router and the router does not recognize anyone else other than host.
Better to have and not need, than to need and not have.
Turn off your firewalls and then give it a shot.... you amy want to config your firewall later so that you dont need to live unsecured.... people can be scary.
You need to add another DHCP user ... Log into your linksys.. 192.168.1.1 something like that.... and then ADD 1 or more DHCP users... and reset the router, modem, and your computer will be seen, i've had this problem before...
