I have a AMD XP 2100+ processor with an Abit AT7-MAX motherboard. For some reason, the machine just seems to run too slow.

The chip settings are as follows:

CPU Operating Speed >=2000+(133)
CPU FSB: 133
Ratio: 4:2:1
Multiplier Factor x12.3/13

I can change the settings such as the ratio and multiplier factor.

Are these settings incorrect, is there some way to optimize this? I have 512MB RAM (PC2700, CL 2.5). I can set the rate for the memory to CL2 or 2.5, but the label on the memory says, 2.5.

PLEASE PLEASE HELP!

Hey R,

I don't know what your real question is, but a Athlon XP 2100+ should run at 1729/1736 mhz using a 13X multiplier. FSB 133 X Multiplier 13= 1729 mhz. 2100+ is not the clock speed of your cpu, just a rating that AMD gave to your chip.

As far as running your CAS setting of your DDR at 2.0, give it a shot, if it doesn't boot or locks up a lot, go back in the bios & change it back to CAS 2.5.

As far as "running too slow", I have no idea what your entire setup is & what software you are running. You don't list your DDR brand or OS. Please repost with more information how your computer is running too slow & what other hardware & software that you are running.

Peace Out....................tile

god knows your entire system setup & he would answer your questions if he could just stop laughing

Thanks for the response.

I think the memory is Nanya, and its PC2100+ (DDR 266), not DDR333. I run Windows XP Professional. 80GB Hard Drive, 40X Plextor CD-RW, 16X LiteOn DVD-ROM Drive.

Any by slow, applications do not launch as fast as they should, it never really locks up, but I thought it would be some type of speed demon. Help me! I'm tempted to go back to the Intel Camp!

Hey R,

You're welcome. Just for kicks, go to www.pcpitstop.com

Run the tests & see what that site says about your system. It might be a software or config conflict. Then again it might not find anything............it's worth a shot & it's free. Good Luck!
