with the demanding requirements of new pc games today i was wondering if my 640mb 8800gts would be able to run bioshock on high settings on my 22in lcd, or should i just get it for the 360 becuase consol games usually run easily in hi def. just asking for your opinion.
Hard to say, jonj. The 360 version may have a more consistent frame rate but at the cost of some texture resolution. The PC version will run at a higher resolution but you're almost guaranteed a lower overall framerate. We're hoping to do some comparisons before the game comes out.
I guess the other question is how big is your TV and are you running some surround sound? As much as I love PC gaming there's something about lounging on my couch with a gamepad in front of a big TV with surround sound thumping.
Or lounging around in front of my dual 21" CRTs (still the best for gaming) with a nice keyboard and mouse with surround sound thumping? :-)
I'd agree with tmeacham, Bioshock will likely look nicer on PC, and maybe even on PS3, than on X360. I'll be running it on my AMD 2.4GHz dual core, 2GB DDR400, Geforce 7800GT, 3x100GB sata raid0 array. I'll probably be able to run it with medium-ish settings comfortably, assuming 1280x1024.
I have both a PS3 and 360, but i prefer playing fps on my pc. my pc is on a 22" lcd,and consols on a 30" hdtv. i have 5.1 surround sound on both. my pc has a 640mb 8800gts, 2 gigs ram, and i will have the Q6600 by the time bioshock comes out.
I'm not going to pick sides on the consols, but i've had a better experience with the ps3. i had to return my 360 twice and thisone freezes up after about an hour of play. knowing this i am leaning tward the pc version, but i want a smooth runthrough- no lags, decent famerate, low load times, all of that.
