pls recommend space combat for vista.

I loved Freelancer with the mouse control. What is the best and newest space combat compatible with vista and plays well with a mouse. I have no joystick and no broadband. I want single player. I have 8800gts 640mb card with 6300 cpu.

I find Freelancer to still be fun, but I think it has problems with IPv6 which causes me to get disconnected whilst playing on Vista. I threw it on my XP partition and it works fine.
As for other titles, have you tried X3:The Reunion or even Darkstar One? They're the only ones that come to mind that seem relatively recent.

I can vouch for X3 benig an excellent game. It's not all combat though - it's more like Elite than Freespace, so it might not be what you're looking for.

If you do decide to give it a go, you MUST install the latest patches. The original release was pretty buggy, but it's fine now. The additional content is nice as well
