I am currently in control of a gaming rig and want to use it while I can. What games should I get? What are the classic titles and current ones. I'm running XP, but will move to Vista eventually. I love FPS and action/adventure games, no rts, rpg etc. I already have BF2142.

counter strike source is the best game you will ever play and you will get addicted. another good game is rainbow six vegas, also F.E.A.R and battlefield 2 <<< 10 times better than bf 2142.

Man - if you haven't played FEAR you've missed out. It's the best game I've played in the last year (I just finished it).

I think STALKER is a good buy.. I know it got delayed, and I know the graphics are a tad outdated, but the whole Shooter/rpg element is really cool and I thought well executed. (Its sequel is supposed to be on par with current games graphic wise but wont be out till '08 which doesnt help you)

Also, stay on the lookout for CRYSIS!!! Its the sequel to FarCry, and its supposedly going to be the best game (graphically) to be released to date.

Crysis is not the sequel to Farcry, Farcry 2 is. Crysis looks awesome though.

What ever you do, DO NOT get Counter Strike. It was cool like 7 years ago, or if you are under 16 now, then you will still like it.

All the other games they said. If you like FPS, you might also enjoy Dark Messiah, just no guns but swords and magic instead.

I know you said no RTS games...but I just gotta recommend "Supreme Commander". Download the demo and take a look at it. What can it hurt? ;)
