Im having a weird problem that i cant figure out,my ping is alwalys low and my fps is usually 30-60 while playing battlefield 2142 or cs,but no matter what i do it drops out of no were to 10 and stays there for a little bit then goes back to normal and back down again.It dosnt matter if the details are onhigh or low,or if the aa is changed.My laptop used to run perfectly and it never lagged,but recently my fps has been going crazy.And im postive nothing is running in the background,and theres no virus or anything like that.



Hp pavillion 9000
windows xp,1 gig of ram,
Nvidia geforce go 6150,256 mb
3.2 processor


Any ideas why this is happening?

I really dont think you have enough RAM in your system to run BF2142 smoothly... If there is anyway to try out more memory do so and see the resaults.

Try adjusting your windows swap file. Maybe this helps your problem. By putting it from the windows default settings to 1536 min and max.

Turn off all apps that don't need to be running. Anything that is running and doesn't will take up what memory you have and slow your system down. You could also try a fresh install of XP.

2 Gb of ram fixed the same problem I had in BF 2 and you should have 2gb anyhow now days if your a true gamer.
