So you're saying you lost your CD key? You're pretty screwed then. I keep several copies of each of my CD keys. The original boxes and sleeves are in a craftsman tool box that locks, and I copied the keys to a notepad (the ones you write on with a pen) and USB drive.

If this is not the case, please elaborate on what really happened.

A CD KEY is the code that comes with a game, it's not called a validation code to my knowledge...

Afraid that you're screwed then.

Your only legal option is to contact the publishers and convince them to send you a new code.  You might need to send them the CDs as proof.

Yep, you are definitely screwed.

As Llama_man said, contact the publisher and offer to send back the original CD and maybe a copy of the receipt. You'll probably need to pay shipping both ways, but that should be cheaper than buying the game again.

I use a permanent marker to write the CD/DVD key on the disk itself just in case I loose the manual or the plastic case.
