Hi guys, I'm just wondering how many people out there suffer from this highly ignored problem for gamers.

I first got sick playing quake 2, long time ago after about half an hour into play. Time splitters 2 made me so sick that I would feel dizzy just walking by a screen with it on, and like everyone else, I was dying for halflife 2 coming out for a couple of years, paid 30 odd quid for it, played it for 20 mins then sold it on ebay.

I'd just like to hear your guys thoughts and experiences on the matter.

yeah, I get the slight butterfly thing aswell when jumping off high buildings, but thats a wee thrill. the sickness part is more aking to being in the back of a car for 6 hours right after some undercooked chicken

Thechevron,

This is 5 cent input to your situation, but I have seen this before. My real job is physical therapy and we often treat vestibular problems.

For what it is worth, there are 3 main balance inputs to the brain, 1- ankles, 2 visual, 3 inner ear (of course) What makes us sick is a conflicting input such as being in the elevator and not seeing changes but feeling them, seeing the game screen do something that our body and inner ear do not feel or some combo of that. We also get sick when there is a massive input of one of those, such as a large screen, or sitting too close to it, poor lighting, so that the eyes are stressed (increased input and strain) or just plain too much of anything...spinning, falling, speeding.

Frankly, the older we get, the more sensitive unless we train in a jet fighter or something. One can build a tolerance to this stuff but I wouldn't bother trying to get use to being sick in front of a computer.

I get it with oblivion in particular. I usually sit back until I forgot that I didn't feel well and then scooch up and do it all over again. After a while I wonder what the heck I am doing and go to bed.

Undercooked chicken is NASTY stuff and I cannot tolerate even being in the back seat.

I would keep the lights on, sit back from the screen and just take breaks. Or just keep doing it, like I do, and get 'sick' and tired of playing. Have a good one.

Not to be patronising or anything, but do you get enough sleep?

Perhaps your brain is never enough rested for some reason, snoring, uncomfy bed, bad unconcious sleeping habits?

I'll get motion sickness from riding a car within minutes when I've slept too little, but I can ride a swing when I've slept well..

The actually term for what you get is motion sickness, virtual sickness is what you get when you have VR goggles on and your eyes perceive a world but your ears do no detect the world. That is a much more common in people than motion sickness from playing a computer game. As said before the problem is your eyes perceive motion though your inner ear and your body is not moving and this for people that are prone to motion sickness makes them feel sick as there brain can not handle this sensation.
