Hi, I am playing Lost Planet but when everytime I play for about 10-15 minutes the game becomes 'hang', the screen freeze and then pop out to Windows and i have error message saying "Memory Overun". What is seem to be the problem?

My spec :
Intel E6320
Gigabyte 965P-S3
Corsair Twin2X 2048Mhz PC6400 DDR2 800
MSI 8800GTS 320 Mb
Silverstone ST50EF 500Watt
WD Caviar SE WD1600AAJS 160 Gb SATA
Windows XP Pro SP2

Playing in DX.9.0c at 1024x768 res 85hz CRT 17" Flat IBM p76 Monitor with default graphic setting and about 50-95 frame rate per second, CPU Temp at 36C, GPU Temp at 67C. Everything seems to be OK for my spec, right? What is memory overun anyway? Is it the same with memory leak? How to fix it? Or the game just unstable yet? Please Help. Thx

it's a fault in the design of the 8800 chip, basically it never clears the cache on the graphics and system memory and after a while it just runs out of memory, this doesn't happen in all games, just some of them.

There is one forum thread about it, i couldn't find it again though, i think there may be something on the nVidia site helps lessen the problem. nVidia were working on a fix for a set of drivers, but they said it'd take a while because it was complicated.

I think one of the fixes for clearing the memory buffers was alt tab'ing out of the game twice, or alt tab'ing and opening a web browser, which then clears the cashe and then tab'ing back to the game.

Also, Lost planet crashes if you use drivers other than the 162.18 (XP) or 162.22 (Vista), after you install those, it works great.
