installing windows home edition over windows xp professional

i had windows xp professional installed and trying to install windows xp home
edition. getting a your current installation of windows is not a supported
upgrade path. what do i do? don't have the product number for xp
professional.

Hi,

That path is not supported, you can't install Home over Pro. You will need
to format and install clean to achieve what you are asking.
