Bioshock locking up need help!

For some reason anywhere between 5-20 minutes in Bioshock the game locks up forcing me to control alt delete and close it only resulting in a blue screen that restarts my system. I already downloaded the hotfix which took away everything being pitch black. I have tried running it in windowed mode and with dx10/9 and every setting in between. System specs: 2x2900 xt, intel badaxe2 mobo, q6600@3ghz, 2x1gb pny ddr 1066, creative sound blaster xfi elite pro, 150 gb raptor, 1 kilowatt silverstone crossfire certified psu, dell 3007wfp. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
