Well, since i have a 256MB card (and i am sure most of you do)

If you want to play DX10 or even DX9 games smoothly you are going to have to save up for atleast a 1GB Card !
Yes that right, DX10 uses up even more Video Ram because of higher quality textures, shadows, shaders and models.

Hard OCP just did a fantastic review of CoJ (Call of Juarez)

So yes, DX10 take away more precious FPS, but in the end its worth it.

The textures and lighting in DX10 look amazing.

Also, in the review any card under 512MB (which means the 8800GTS 320MB and 8600 and 8xxx series) take a serious performance hit with DX10 on, even in low res.

In X-bit labs DX10 game/card review.

The 320mb version of the 8800GTS is the slowest performing card.

Also another good read.

Well happy reading.

Also, maybe you should keep your high end DX9 videocards for a while, the only game worth getting DX10 for is CoJ, but considering even 1GB videocards can barely get playable frames, i would recommend waiting for ATi's R700 and Nvidia's G8x series.

I am happy with my lil 79gt, sure i wont get max visuals or fps but atleast i do not have to pay a price premium updating.

You're right... BUT proving it with Call of Juarez? I know it but it's never safe to benchmark with a game few people play

also the call of juarez dx10 is notoriously unreliable

I don't know about all that, DX10 hasnt shown ANYTHING yet. Except lower fps

you are aware that call of juarez was a total flop when it comes down to DX10, AA (nvidia), and even performance in DX9 right?
