Ok i recently tried to open my world of warcraft realmlist file but it says i cannot because its either corrupted, or i dont have the support to convert it or its in use.
Its a WTF file if that helps, can anyone help me out here? I think i need to find the original program it was made in.
The file "realmlist.wtf" contains information that is used by the World of Warcraft game to get the servers in which it connects to & the update servers address also. The only reason to edit this file is to play on free private servers in which there are many of online now days. You can open this file with just about any text editor program. The WTF has nothing to do with its online meaning its an actual file extension used only for the purpose of storing the games server & updates connection information.
The default file text is as follows:
set realmlist us.logon.worldofwarcraft.com
set patchlist us.version.worldofwarcraft.com
When you play on a private server you just delete both lines & place the servers address in that you wish to play on & of course you must first have an account on their server to connect as well.
The above is what your private servers text would look like but I used my home page address instead & I don't run private servers so it will not do anything for you as its just an example. Where "www.TonyFordz.net" is you would replace it with the private servers address.

I know this is a long time ago (2007) but you seem to know a bit or alot xd
ive got Wow-LK and i want to go on a free sever i did before, but in the WTF folder theres a wtf file that says Config.wtf and its got this in it:
SET locale "enGB"
SET realmList "world of warcraft server( i edited this but i forget the previous thing that was here)"
SET coresDetected "2"
SET hwDetect "0"
SET gxColorBits "24"
SET gxDepthBits "24"
SET gxResolution "1024x768"
SET gxRefresh "60"
SET gxMultisampleQuality "0.000000"
SET gxFixLag "0"
SET videoOptionsVersion "1"
SET movie "0"
SET Gamma "1.000000"
SET readTOS "1"
SET readEULA "1"
SET readTerminationWithoutNotice "1"
SET showToolsUI "1"
SET Sound_OutputDriverName "System Default"
SET Sound_MusicVolume "0.40000000596046"
SET Sound_AmbienceVolume "0.60000002384186"
SET farclip "777.000000"
SET specular "1"
SET particleDensity "1.000000"
SET groundEffectDensity "24"
theres also a realmlist.wtf file in in Data\enGB folder so i deleted the config file or edited, did the two things, and the file in the enGB folder but when i try to login in to the sever i want it says wrong username bla bla...
when i close the game the Config file is there again but the other file i put there is still there or sometimes not.
any ideas?
thanks
Sorry I am not able to keep up with every place I post online lol because there are just so many sites its a shame that you cant just sign up once online & that be your login information net wide...
On a note for the WTF settings I know that this information has changed as WoW has tried to keep people from making changes to the server connection file but honestly I do not play this game anymore but I setup a server about 1 years ago which was under the newer wtf file settings which you have show here...
I will reinstall the game in a few days then come back here to make a simple guide for you since things have changed since I last played...
