I managed to get my hands on a Maxtor 40GB, 7200RPM drive. However, the motherboard stalls when it tries to detect the drive. I've checked the cab;es and jumpers. I've tried flashing the bios in case my P5-A doesn't work with drives this large, the only bios Asus had was a beta from May that caused bugs with my shutdown sequence. Anyone have any ideas?

My current hard drive is a 9.1 GB, 5400RPM Quantum, which works fine...

Get the MaxBlast software free from their website. Then manually configure the BIOS to a smaller drive size and use Dynamic Drive Overlay to make the full size usable.
