Colin McRae, the great rally driver, and inspiration for great rally games of the past, and his 5 year old son are dead from a helicopter crash: http://timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport [...] 461339.ece

I had just come home from buying an 8800GTX so I could play Colin McRae's DiRT when my wife told me the news.

Any unexpected death is sad, but his son at such a young age, my God, I'm blown away.

He is survived by his wife and 9 year old daughter... man this just sucks beyond words!!!

This is quite a shock. As hollow as it sounds online my heart goes out to his wife and daughter.

Scary thing is I played dirt for the first time today on my buddy's 360.

This is such a loss, I can remember him from when I was a kid. Again my heart also goes out to his wife and daughter. I never even heard till today it’s such a shock to my system it’s unreal..

How is that a darwin award? There are people who go flying with their children all the time. Is it a darwin award when people are killed in an airliner crash?

I'm going to take a round of Sega Rally, or Initial-D, depending on what they have at the local arcade, in memory of Mr. McRae.

I was watching him, when I realized, that sometimes, you shouldn't steer in the direction you want to go. An epiphany that has served me well.

I read the first few articles that came out about the helicopter crash, and when they confirmed that Colin McRae was in that helicopter. Sad stuff really...
