I have Windows 2K w/sp4 and an HP Scanjet 5pse connected via an
Adaptec 2906 scsi card.

It used to work fine. But now when I call up the scanning software or
the copy software I get the following message:

"Failure to communicate with the scanner. Be sure the scanner is on
and properly connected. [1215]"

The scanner is on and connected. It is seen under the Device Manager.
If I turn it off and re scan hardware, the scanner goes away. When I
turn the scanner back on and re scan hardware it comes back.

I have tried reinstalling the scanner drivers and software. I have
also reinstalled the Adaptec SCSI card drivers, all with no luck.

I tried installing the scanner on a friends PC and it works with no
problem (scanner - not bad).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
