My current motherboard is the A7V266-E with onboard promise chip. I recently added added an IDE Zip Drive to my computer. This brings the total to five IDE devices. The present setup is WD1200JB hard drive on ide, master. On secondary is TDK CDRW, master, and the zip drive, slave. Promise 1 has a Toshiba DVD as master and Maxtor 20 gig HD as slave. The devices on the promise 1 are detected during bootup but are not detected in Windows 2000. Device manager does not show them. The computer also runs slower now that I have this configuration. About every 10 seconds the system seem to "pause". I tried setting just the WD1200 on the promise but then I could find no way to set it to be the primary boot device.
any ideas???
