Dear all,

This is my first time posting a question in this forum. I hope somebody out there can help my with my problem.

I recently changed my mobo to Gigabyte GA-7VA(KT400 Chipset). I reinstalled Win2K on the system. My problem is the computer occasionally restarts for no particular reason when I surf or type documents etc. At first I thought it was OS related, so I formatted and reinstalled the OS. But the problem persists even after I updated all the necessary drivers and latest BIOS.

My computer configuration is:
AMD Duron 1.0 GHz
Gigabyte GA-7VA
32MB RivaTNT2 MX64
SoundBlaster Live! Value
256 Kingmax DDR-333
20GB ATA-100 HDD
SAMSUNG DVD Drive
Acer CDRW
IOMEGA Zip Drive
300W ATX Power Supply

I hope to get a solution for my problem.

Thanks

Have you looked in the Event Viewer logs for recent information related to the issue? That's the first thing I would check, when starting to troubleshoot this kind of problem.

Start\Programs\Settings\Control Panel\Adminstrative Tools\Event Viewer. Application and System logs.

Have you disabled the option for the system to restart if an error is encountered?

Right-click, My Computer\Properties\Advanced\Startup and Recovery\Settings\System Failure. Clear the "Automatically Restart" check box, and set the "Write debugging" information to (none). Reboot.

This may cause Windows to stop the system and display a blue screen with information about the error. Document all aspects of the error message carefully, and post it here if possible. You may need to boot the computer in Safe Mode to access the desktop if the error is severe, or try to repair the operating system by booting with the Windows CD and selecting the repair option after running setup.

Nearly all STOP error messages are searchable through a engine like Google. But if you can't find it, one of us here at the forum probably can.

Seems like I recall some problems with EZ CD Creator concerning those issues. Just a thought.

I want to die like my Grandfather...in my sleep...not screaming in terror like his passengers.

check all power supply voltages. if they are fluctuating or low be concerned that the power supply is now dead or not quite big enough.
