There was someone who posted the parts from newegg to make a machine that could run crysis on high with a lower resolution for 400 bucks. What were the parts again. the thread is outdated
This rig is slightly more than 400.00USD, but will run Crysis in DX9 pretty well, at resolutions at or higher than you stated. This build also is capable of upgrades, as the gigabyte board is of good quality.
Whether or not its a great game is quite simply a matter of opinion. I happened to love the game when I played it. In fact, it is still on my top ten list of best FPS of all times.
Also, I agree, your link doesn't work. It just leads to my empty shopping cart.
nice cheap system... if i were going cheap though i'd go w\ an amd am2 setup, drop at least 40-50 off that $431 total (-35 for rebates) - great build actually, after i looked at the parts again. I'd recommend shelling out another $60 and getting an e7200 instead of the 2200.
I would sell my old computer for $355 w\ 1gb ram (i pulled the 4gb and put it in my new office cpu) and an 80gb hard drive.
amd 6400+ w\ zalman 9500
hd 3870 512 gddr4
gigabyte ga-ma69vm-s2 mobo
gigabyte poseidon case w\ 550w psu

------------------------------6000-X2, 8gb ddr2-6400, 2x 150gb raptor x, 512mb HD3870, 550w
corsair modular psu, gigabyte aurora3d (way too huge for my mobo! )
$376.95... used different components then you though.
and of course this is just newegg pricing. There are other sources for bargains like ebay and craigslist... I got my case for my newest build off craigslist, like-new still in the box for $50 and it retails for $159. guy had built his system and decided it was way too big of a case for him.
I'm at odds w\ this thread though.... a "crysis" computer....
you're not going to run it on very high settings w\ anything less than a $1500 computer. if you really care about all the extra resolution and such.
i put it in very high and it let me know how real fast that my 6400+ w\ 3870 and 4gb ram still wasn't enough to rock it.
i didn't bother installing on my 9450 because i find the idea of benchmarking w\ a lame game to be pointless. everybody isn't going to be running crysis on high settings all the time, so it shouldn't be a basis from which to build a computer you're going to be using for alot of other tasks.
In directX9 and a small monitor it might work. I like your build, the only problem I see is the vid card has a 128bit bus as opposed to the 256 on my build, that card is a lot slower.
