There's only one place where you can see a full orchestra playing the theme to Gauntlet followed by a guitar solo from Contra and that's the Video Games Live concert series. We took in a show recently and came out thoroughly entertained.

There is a video of a guy on Youtube playing Super Mario Bros on an 11 string Bass. It's pretty cool. He even does the ending when you hit the flag pole and get the points :) Here 'tis

I submit Return to castle Wolfenstein as a candidate, it's a full orchestra, plus Enemy Territory, i use it as my theme when my computer starts

Highly underrated, incredibly well put together music - the original Tomb Raider.

Tomb Raider 2's music was almost as good; the series went musically downhill from there.

we had this in Holland last year November!
the whole Dutch Metropole Orchestra playing brilliant game tunes!
including some guest artists.

they did it again at Lowlands, a 3 day festival!
and in December they will do it again, but now with different tunes!
it's always a strange feeling, listening to tunes you used to hear only in your own room.
with a small tv set in front of you.....or a mouse and keyboard.
