No-body really knows yet. People are reporting that those with pre-orders have been able to download it through EA's DL manager, but it has remained encrypted. From what it seems, it might be only those with pre-orders will be recieving the demo today, and the rest tommoro. But thats just a guess.

Some people manage to get it running to the point at which you takeover your character i've read, for the ea store preorders, it sounds like it's messed up, I think the public at large will get the demo on time, www.crysisdemo.com

Ha, Im with ya on that one. I am not gonig to buy the thing until I see if my system locks up on the demo. What is with the pre-order special treatment? That is a sad marketing scheme if you ask me. Leave it up to EA pull crap like that.

Trolling some of the Crysis forums, I found this neat little thread about the new single player demo:

http://forums.ea.com/mboards/threa [...] 0&tstart=0

Just a little paraphrase from one of the posts there:

More info, with my QX6850 + 8800 Ultra + 2Gb DDR2 I get:

5fps (1600*1200, 16aa, Very High settings)
8fps (1600*1200, 4aa, Very High settings)
12fps (1600*1200, 4aa, High settings)
25fps (1280*1024, 8aa, Medium settings)

Nvidia Driver version: 163.69

Ooh:

SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - Crysis demo needs additional resources.

The demo of EA's Crysis will need the sacrifice of a small animal in order to run said Frank Wolinsky, senior software developer.

"In order to keep up with demanding technologies, but to allow people on older systems, say 1 month old, we have enabled the sacrifice of small animals in order to appease certain gods to allow the game to run on this hardware."

Wolinsky added that any animal can do.

"Yes, a cat or maybe a turtle? That will work."
