WOO HOO it plays friking alot better than the Beta. Running on my X2 6000+ at 3.2 Ghz, 2 GB Gskill DDR2, GTS 640 MB OC'ed to 550/1700, 2 x Raptors 150 Gb Win XP with latest Nvidia Driver Beta 169.01. I get 25 to 30 FPs on Fraps with a low of 18. But is still smooth and very playable on all high settings at 1920 x 1200 Res. Here are some pics...
Be warned playing on normal difficulty is like playing on hard. You have get used to the controls and react fast. Enemy AI is fantastic! Ill be up all night... ENJOY for those that can run it!
Currently running the demo on 1280x1024 all on high with 16x AF and 2x CSAA (enabled at Nvidia Control Panel).
Specs are amd x2 3800+ @ 2.8 ghz, ocz 800mhz gold edition ddr2 ram at 4-4-4-12, evga gts 640mb superclocked (further overclocked to 620/2000), win vista 32-bit, and latest nvidia beta drivers (169.01).
Game runs great, fraps reporting around 25-30 FPS, some slowdowns at checkpoints when game saves, but it isnt too bad or noticeable.
btw, just a small bug i noticed while playing, lol...

that stain of blood stays on the stairs, it's not on the HUD
and another shot of it from a different angle...

anyway, the game looks gorgeous, even only at high settings...

tried to run the game at very high, but i went down to 10 fps!!! oh well, looks like my 8800 gts is starting to show its age... can't wait to try this out at my 42" Samsung HDTV later, hehehe...
edit: i read somewhere that putting everything on very high except shaders should make the game look better without suffering a performance hit... i did this, and disabled AA, and the game actually ran better (now at 30-35 fps, as low as 25 in intense gun battles) and looks better...
I play with everything on very high and get a average of 20 fps at 1440x900. I played the demo through the first time with no fraps then played again with it so I'd have my idea on how smooth I thought the gameplay was before I saw the FPS and I was surprised to see I was only getting 20 fps. To me it seemed like more but I'm not changing a setting. There is no AA + AF though.
I really want this games, but one thing is for sure!
I will not buy any of the current generation Dx10 VPU. I'll play it at Dx9 setting and will get throuh it again next year with R700 or it's NVidia competitor. Performances are just too slow to be worth it.
Somebody will need to fix this fast. I remember hoping that with time game engine would be better optimized to make good use of Dx10 effects without slowing down too much, but it seems I was wrong!
Well, there is still next year new Dx10 VPU to hope for.
I ran this game on a 7800GT @ 1600 x 1200. With medium settings i was shocked to see the demo run 90% smooth. A few hiccups here and there but nothing too "man i need a new machine for this". I stress that if your running on a 7series card you may want to keep the graphics to medium cause at high my game just locked up and bottlenecked like hell. The cutscenes were choppy and my card had a hard time playing them but the action was smooth. My machine is: Asus P5WD2, Pentium 4 3.20ghz, 75GB Raptor, Crucial 2GB DDR2 533, running on a EVGA 7800GT card.
I can only run this game kinda smoothly on 1024 and low settings. My system is in my sig. Then again, it's a laptop...but it's still a gaming laptop. Apparently even the [almost] best of laptop hardware can't run it well.

When I run the game on medium settings about 5 minutes in it crashes and I look at my temperatures and my graphics card is at 80 degrees celsius.
Btw I have
Pentium D 925 3.0ghz
7950GT 256mb
2Gb 533 (pc2-4200)
Windows Vista Basic
lol, ouch, I saw that blood bug, I was driving the jeep and splat some blood on my windshield, kept on driving, it disappeared, reversed, there it was again, jumped out and saw it floating there.
Core 2 Quad q6600
8800GTS 320MB
2GB DDR2 667
Vista 32bit.
Good enough for me (well maybe i'll upgrade soon, see when the game is released).

I am running the demo too and here is my system. 2x2900 xt, 1x raptor 150 gb, 1x intel q6600@3ghz, 2x pny 8500 ddr2, 1xintel badaxe 2 mobo, 1 x creative elite pro, and last but not least dell 3007 2560x1600 resolution which is beautiful but rapes performance. I get about 10-30 fps in the demo with vista 64 bit ultimate running in 64 bit mode. I have it on dx10 everything on high except for sound and physics which are on very high and i have shadows on medium(both settings). If I turn them on high i get 10 fps max ~_~. Yeah I am kind of pissed having paid 6k for a rig like this to run crysis at max and getting raped in the ass but w/e.

LoL just be happy you have a 30 inch panel jeez thats the ultimate! I think there isnt any configuration that will allow you to play on that monitor with descent framerate, not yet anyway. Just too many pixels to push. I love my 24" but would prob give my left nut for a 30 incher right now.LOL
hehe .. feel sorry for all those people with huge 22 - 30in screens and cant run crysis demo with max resolution and high settings..
Video cards are currently letting this game down for super uber high resoluions I reackon ?!!!?
I have Q6600 (not OC'ed, even with Thermalright Ultima-90, but thats another story) 8800GTS 640 meg, 2 gigs ram, and tried running at 1920 x 1200 with everything on high but it was very very slow in some parts. I turned down shadows to medium and it was very smooth in the smaller areas but still pretty chunky looking out across the water in larger open areas.
Kinda dissapointed, guess ill turn down more stuff.
Also, it locked up when I got to the second camp area, due to, I think, a sound card issue (freaking microsoft and creative labs can't seem to get along worth crap nowdays)
i dont understand....i bought my rig in April of this year with one thing in mind...CRYSIS!! my specs are : P5B Deluxe (fsb @ 324mhz), 4GB DDR2 Patriot(5-5-5-15 @ 2.0V), BFG TECH 8800GTX OC2, C2D E6600 @ 2.92(cant go higher, i get blue screens...WTF?) , vista ultimate 64-bit and running BETA drivers 169. i put everything on very high, running in 32-bit mode(demo crashes in 64-bit, or i might be mistaken) @ 1680x1050 and boy does it suck!!! i probably get 8fps max....wtf?? setting gfx on high doesnt make a huge difference and playing on medium...well...the game doesnt look the same to me...can this be my windows or driver issues maybe??? or is my pc just not up for the task??if you want to play crysis in all its glory, do you need to spend $10k on a pc????
can someone comment on this plz
Well you dont even need vista to play on ultra high settings
from cysis forum...
If you tweak ALL the configuration files in \CVarGroups\ by copying and pasting the "very high" settings (1st paragraph) IN PLACE of the "high" settings (last paragraph) the game will load the highest possible settings even though the drop-down menus display "high."
so if you have dual boot try it on XP
i DID And it works great
Palm trees and other plants look so horrible on the images with 1280x1024 resolution. ![]()
Is it possible to enable high level antialiasing to increase the image quality at that resolution or is the only solution to buy a 20"+ display with higer resolution?
max 60 @ 1280X1024 no AA
min 25
I didnt change any settings except change in resolution and no AA, other then that all settings were default. I was testing it late night and i had to work in the morning. but the game looks amazing. The palm trees dont look that great without AA. Will try to bump up AA and see what diff it makes.
Cheers
I would really like to have a look at some screenshots with palm trees and grass at 1280x1024 with 4x or 8x AA. For some reason the game looks so much better on the screenshots that soldier37 provided than on the ones that Shaft Dawg's and Stemnin showed here. Is it only higher resolution or something else too (maybe HDR is enabled?) that makes the game appear much better on soldier37's screenies?
Well he's taking the pic using a camera away from his screen and at a weird angle so he can show off his rig haha. I think i've read that AA is not applied to the plants, but I could be wrong or misread.
Why do only some of his resize and mine always resize to fit..

All high graphic settings and 16xQ AA @ 1680x1050 got me 18-25fps with my rig. A little disappointing... I have a q6600, X-Fi and Physx card on the way... I hope it helps.
This is going to be one expensive game to play
PHYSX card won't for crysis, you may see a 0.0000001% improvement in MOH:A and UT3. And you can get to play those free games that have graphics like RED FACTION!

Guys I ran the demo with my 7600GT. I know, I know, but I set all settings to low and tried 1280x1024, I also tried at 1024x768 and 800x600. I know the card is ancient but, It was very playable between freezes. Ok it was smooth and didnt make me dizzy until about every 15 seconds it freezes for 5 seconds, then it plays normal for 15 seconds and then freezes for another 5. Kinda wierd I thought maybe the hardrive wasnt loading fast enough. What do you think was causing the freezes?
I run with everything except shaders, which are on medium, on high. Performance is 15+ fps but typically a tad over 20. Resolution is 1680x1050
The detail in the faces in the last shot is just incredible. Also I must say that even though it only runs about 20fps, its incredibly stable and still feels pretty smooth. Explosions are just beautiful.
EDIT: Running the Benchmark_GPU batch file in the Bin32 folder of the installation gives me an average of 22.93 with the minimum at 10.88 and the maximum at 34.12.
This demo really showed the age of my X1900 XTX. Medium all round with only CCC AA and AF getting round 35-40 avg fps on 1280 x 1024. Awsome graphics even at medium and DX9, only main noticable difference is the water effects.
Liked beating up the sand birds on the beach
also running about in stealth in the shrubs to lure the ememy to you inquizitive of the strange sounds coming from the said shrubs
an thats on normal difficulty!! Found it fairly similar to Farcry, but those added abilities really change the whole style of annihilation
. By the sounds of some of the other people here with fairly uber rigs, barely getting over 30 fps on very high settings i won't be even trying to attempt to upgrade my comp to get it to run Crysis maxed
. Anyway hope you enjoyed it as much as I.
I thought my Rig which I saved up for would be great to play my game at LCD res 1280 x 1024,
But with Crysis set at High with Shadow/Shader set to medium ( NO AA
I get 20-30 FPS ..
How wrong I was ..
Love the game yes its similar to Farcry but with much more flexibility , I,m going to get a boat and see how far I can travel in it around the island (is it an island ?)
I like how the saved games tell you how many people you have killed..
It would be cool if you could whistle and call the enemy into the shrubs then kill em !!

With Very high and 16QAA on (1650x1024) i get around 10-15FPS
I have a E660 @ 3.3ghz and a gxt with small OC on it as well
To get it to run at 30FPS i need to run it on high with some medium settings, I cant get the 64bit version to run on my rig it crashes so i just run the 32bit one. i hope that in the next few weeks Nvidia will optmize some more drivers for the game, as well as the final release running a bit smoother as well in 64bit mode.
Anyone know whats causing the 5 second freeze every 10 seconds on my pc? Is this a hardrive thing? Because in between the freezes the graphics are great and the game play is smooth but its impossible to play when your screen freezes every 10 seconds.
I have not seen anyone else have that problem with a 7600GT.

| STEMNIN wrote : I have not seen anyone else have that problem with a 7600GT. |
Yeah I dont get it. Its smooth and good and then 5 second freeze, then its fine for 10 seconds, then 5 second freeze again and it just goes on and on, its almost like the hardrive cant keep up.
and here i am and FARCRY still amazes me, this is like the 2nd coming. he's not carver is he?
I just finished it doing the night time way, this is pretty fun, I imagine it would be alot more difficult on Delta.
Some of my lighting is buggy, when I turn on the Jeep lights and the Command Post light, the lights go through those objects (can see the red tail lights through walls, the vehicle itself etc).
| wh3resmycar wrote : he's not carver is he? |
lol, no, he's NOMAD! (I think that's what they're saying).
Prophet
Psycho
Jester
Aztec?
NOMAD

Why are you fighting at night did you wait it to become night?
Just skip the whole Jester/Aztec part by jumping up some cliff (near the beginning, before you reach the first korean soldier) and running towards the encampment with the gps jammer.

I have Vista 64-bit. For some reason I couldn't get Crysis-64-bit running so I launched the 32-bit version and works fine. ***Edited, it works fine now, make sure you Force V-Sync if you have an higher-end Videocard. However, these shots were taken from 32-bit version. Hence, the FPS would have been higher (average 3-5 FPS higher) but the image quality should remain the same.***
Before anything, If you have vista, please download the latest drivers for your Videocard and the latest "Games for windows-DirectX" patch and you'll be good to go.
I compared a few places with 4 different settings on each frame and included my FPS with FRAPS. The ONLY thing I was changing between images is the SHADERS Quality and it goes from Low to Very High. Every other settings including Texture is set to very high with 1080x720 resolution and no AA.
While testing many settings, the only two major changes to FPS are AA and SHADER settings. Texture is also a big one but less of a problem if you have 512MB RAM+.

So here's the biggest setting you can play with that will affect performance/quality.
Nota: If you have lower than 8800 gtx series with less than 640mb of RAM, try playing with the following settings as they will impact performance as well.
Impact Settings:
1- AA (Especially on Very High settings)
2- Shaders Quality
Major settings:
3- Texture Quality
4- Shadow Quality
5- Post Processing
6- Particles Quality
7- Volumetric Effect
For single cores:
8- Physics
For onboard soundcards
9- Sound Quality
Hope this helps!

After trying it again on my 7600GT, it ran fine. Not sure what the problem was the first time. It was smooth and no lag at all. Of course I ran at 800x600 and all settings on low. I was surprised to see my cpu only went up 2 degrees from idle while playing this game. Must not use much cpu power.

If your "Physics Quality" was set to low, then your CPU won't work as much. Try changing the Physics to medium or higher and you may put your CPU to the test. Here are some results using a Quad CPU with highest settings for Physics.

According to this article the game doesn't run any faster on 64bit
http://www.techarp.com/showarticle.aspx?artno=468
I'm running a Athlon 64 3500+ and 1 Gig corsair ram 256MB radeon X800 and getting 28-35 FPS at 1024x768 with everything at medium no AA I am blown away by how good the game runs on my crappy computer

Is 64 bit enabled inthe Demo?
Yes. When you install the demo, you have the choice to launch the game from both the 32-bit folder or the 64-bit folder.
However, the 64-bit version of the demo had a few bugs. All have been fixed by the time the full game lauched. I got the game wednesday (I'm in Canada) and it looks awesome!
