Hey, I just heard about some software made by Falling Leaf Systems, they call it "Alky for Games". If I understood this right, they are essentially attempting to make Vista-only games, such as Halo 2, or DX10 games (not entirely sure which) work on Windows XP. Currently they have a pre-alpha build that you can download. Has anyone tried it?
Last time i looked a few months back it wasn't a working solution anyway. They had only got so far as being able to use a few functions of DX10. Maybe in a year or so they might have something that works. But by then most will has gone over to vista anyway or completly givern up on microsoft.
Halo 2 is a DX9 game, but it will look for DX10 extensions (M$ way of forcing people to upgrade to Vista) to install or play. Now if M$ improved the game to include some actual usage of DX10, then I suppose it will make swallowing Vista (and DX10) a bit easier.
