so i'm getting into recording and such, and so i want a Mac to run things such as protools and what not. so i posted a ad on Craigs list stating that i want to trade my PC for a Mac, now, heres my question. i dont really know how MACs run in terms of power.
i have a guy saying he'll trade me ether his mac G4 or his Mac Mini for this computer i have

CPU: AMD 6000+ Duelcore 3.0ghzMOBO: Asus M2A-VM HD (bluray compatible)RAM: 2 gigsHARDDRIVE: 350 gigsVIDEO: 8800GTS Nivdia GeForce320 DDR3DVD/CD RW DriveWindows Vista Basic1000W PSU

trading your computer for a 5 year old G4 is hardly a fair trade....

moving to mac without knowing how a mac works just seems kind of rediculous to me. anyhow, i tried selling my old system on craigslist and had it priced reasonably and had no takers so i ended up selling it piece by piece and all that is left of it now is its dvdrw drive.

you might be able to sell your system for $400-500 possibly and put that towards a mac but i would not advise trading for a used mac that is old....

maybe you should find mac os for x86 and run it on your current system... problem solved.
