I downloaded SP2 on my laptop (Pro) and desktop (Home), both installed
fine. (Auto Update) I do have an issue, though; My Pro version now
shows a Blue "Bar" when it loads, like XP Home (used to be green)
and it doesn't say "Pro" on any of the start up screens, though it
still has the "Pro" features. Another person I spoke to at work had
the same issue. Is it a problem, or is it normal??

Normal. SP 2 removes the Pro and Home identification from the startup and
makes it generic.

If ever in doubt as to which version of Windows any pc has, run the Windows mini-applet "WINVER".
Start menu > Run option> type in
WINVER <enter>

You'll see an explicit set of info & it will show "Home" or "Pro" (for XP). The WINVER applet has been in all Windows versions....like forever it seems.

Why would anyone need to know what version of XP they had?
IF it came with PRO or HOME then it's not exactly gonna change is it?
Unless of course every user other than me thinks someone is gonna change
it.....................
Anyway, there are enough diffs between the two versions

There *are* a few times when you would need to know that. The case of special features like ASR in backup is one.
General knowledge is also helpful. In a number of cases, some issues are best resolved by knowing the specific version & service pack level.
Then there are cases of having a mixed network of XP & Win2000 pcs & not being able to easily tell which is which.

i suspect you have an incomplete install of sp2.... if
you boot off the cd does it tell you you have an upgrade
in progress?

This is an intentional part of the Service Pack 2 update.

Because there are now 4 versions of Windows XP (Home, Pro, Media
Center, and Tablet PC) it was decided to have just one opening splash
screen and use it for all versions instead of including 4 different
version specific splash screens in the Service Pack files.
