Hey all I have a buying dilema, both laptops are practicly the same but there are slight difference, the HP lack a WiFi card and its wieght is 0.3KG more than IBMs.
They cost the same, but HPs pavilion design looks much better than IBM's.
OK so now I came to ask, which brand of laptops are generaly known to be better, HP or IBM?
And if you know about this models, can you mention some pros and cons ?
here are the specs of each
IBM R50e includes:
15" scren
Intel Celeron M 330 1.4Ghz
40Gb HD
256MB PC2700 (266Mhz)
DVD-ROM + CDRW combo drive
LAN 10/100 + WiFi + Modem
Windows XP pro
3KG
------------------------------------------
HP Pavilion ze4907EA
15" scren
Intel Celeron M 330 1.4Ghz
40Gb HD
256MB PC2700 (266Mhz)
DVD-ROM + CDRW combo drive
LAN 10/100 + Modem
Windows XP Home
3.3KG
The HPs are getting a lot nicer now days but I would still go with the IBM.
The "airbag" system in the ibms is actually very nice and has saved my t42 from some rough bumps The hard drive in the IBM is also faster than the HP.
I have used an hp with a simmilar case to the ze4907EA, that thing was huge and flimsy. The R50e is slightly smaller and it has a much more rugged case.
Having internal wifi is VERY nice, if anything get it for that. PCMCIA wireless cards get anoying very fast.
Last but not least IBM thinkpads don't come with a bunch of useless junk installed on them like other laptops do. They are just loaded with ibm utilities that are actually useful. Because there is no junk on them the ibms boot really really fast and are very snappy.
