For some reason, I can only play BF 2142 in 1024 X 768. Why can't I play in 1280 X 1024? Is there somewhere I can change the resolution other than in the game (like in a config file)? I have looked for one but can't find it.

UPDATE, I just found the config file in the
c:\Documents and Settings\Username\My Documents\Battlefield 2142\Profiles\Default\video.con

I changed it from 1024x768@75Hz to 1280x1024@75Hz and the game won't load. the screen goes black as though it is going to but then it just quits and I am back to the desktop. Is there anything else I can do to up the resolution.

By the way, I can play Battlefield 2 at 1280x1024 with 8xAA just fine. It is not a hardware problem the option just doesn't show up in the settings.

But i don't want to play in a wide screen resolution. I want to play in the standard 1289x1024. I found it odd that I can in BF2 but not in 2142. THey are made by the same company!!! I still think there has to be a way to work around it. I just haven't found it yet. I was hoping someone else here has.

I think it's because most CRT monitors don't run in 1280x1024 but in 1280x960, I've had that issue in other games just drop it slightly to 960.

What are you talking about? all CRT monitors will run in 1280x1024. That is the standard format resolution. I have three that will. However this is irrelavant to my problem because I have an LCD screen with a native resolution of 1280x1024.

I like to play in widescreen, which BF2142 doesn't support. The way around this is to change the shortcut settings. Right click on the game icon, go into properties. The target will be C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Battlefield 2142\BF2142.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 . You can define the resolution by adding +szx 1280 +szy 1024 (or your preferred resolution settings) to the end of the target, and you can change to widescreen by changing +fullscreen 1 to +widescreen 1. If you want to change the resolution to 1280x1024 the target should look like this:

C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Battlefield 2142\BF2142.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1280 +szy 1024

Be aware that if you don't use the shortcut (ie you click "start game" when the popup appears after inserting the disc) you won't get the specified resolution, or you may get the black screen. Otherwise this will work. Good luck.
