I just got a Gigabyte GA-7VAX board, and it has a BIOS setting called 'Enable Top Performance.' I didn't know what this ment, so I looked in the manual, it said 'Enables Top Performance.'

So, does anyone know what this is?

It sets your ram timings very restrictive, hence 1t command rate, 2 clock latency, very low RAS recharge, and other miscellaneous settings.

Soon enough, Intel will make the i845s...imagine dual channel Sdram...*shudder*

Could that potentially cause my computer to crash...such as, I just installed this board, and now it crashes after WindowsXP loads (About one minute after), with the error "A device has crashed" or something like that.

If you have good quality sticks, it should work fine with top performance enabled, but you can always try disabling it and see anyway.

Unless you're in a desperate need for memory bandwith, "top performance" should not be a big worry.
