Installing Windows 2000 over Windows 2000

Hi there... while updating my Norton Antivirus license, I seem to have gotten some kind of virus aimed at screwing up all norton products... Anyway, to make a long story short, nothing by norton would work and it's screwed up my machine as well, where I cannot paste stuff.... I am thinking that the best solution is to re-install Windows 2000... However, there are files which I still need on the drive... If I install Windows 2000, is it going to wipe out the drive clean or is it merely going to install over Windows 2000 and leave the other files intact?? Any info appreciated, thanks...

Anyway, I fixed the problem by selecting Last known good configuration in safe mode...

I would recommend downloading (their free w/updates) spybot search and distroy and adaware. You can get them both @
