I have searched and searched and cannot figure out how on earth my chaotic barbarian doppelganger died of strangulation. Here's the setup and suspects: I was on dlvl 27 or thereabouts, digging compulsively with my pick-axe when I got strangled to death before I could react. I had found an amulet of drain resistance in the Lost Tomb, which used to be an amulet of strangulation before I polymorphed it and...

But here's an interesting question someone may know about: Did I not notice I was being strangled because I was in the middle of a wall dig, because I was slacking in attention and kept digging (I can't remember, life = potion of amnesia on drip feed) or because I had been wearing the polymorphed strangulation amulet for awhile and therefore got a seriously poly-backlogged insta death???
