Anybody knows when Verizon will be out with one? I've read about Moto V710
on some other forum but nobody knows if true or when.

Thanks,

talked to someone at a Verizon store today and they have not been told anything
yet. They gave me a line that the phones have to be tested for bugs and could
be sent back to Motorola and until the phones test out ok, they will not be
released. I think more people need to stop by and ask/demand verizon get
bluetooth, then maybe it will happen. I personally am not very happy with the
M-710 as I really don't want a camera phone, just a bluetooth one. but who
knows how long the wait will be for a second verizon bluetooth phone when we
can't seem to get any information on the the one on the horizon. Lady also
gave me a line about them having one two years ago that no one wanted. I know
they did have one, but it was no longer available when I went with Verizon. So
now I wait. :-(

Here's a silly thought, instead of being a cheap ass and trying to get your
$100 off applied to a phone that doesn't exist, why not just buy one, that
is exactly what you want? I just bought one that met my needs, did an ESN
change and now have exactly the phone I want.
I don't understand the idea of waiting and bitching, why not just get
exactly what you want? Is there an unknown feature in Bluetooth that muddles
peoples brains and prevents them from buying exactly what they want
elsewhere?!?!? That's like waiting for years for GM to put out a car with
the exact features I wanted, and finally going to Pontiac dealer and buying
it off the floor (and then kicking myself for not getting what I want
earlier).
I'm sure there must be reasons, but I don't understand it. Can anyone
explain it?

It's well-known around this town at all VZW
outlets. But, no-one has anything but speculation.
One consideration is that managers of stores
around here have very little enthusiasm for or
interest in or undedrstanding of technical matters.
My opinion. Many are female and talking into
a pretty phone is in-my-opinion their primary
interest. So if one shows up at an outlet one
may have to invite their attention to its presence.

You mean the 270C, that Verizon ordered Motorola to LOBOTOMIZE so that even i
you bought the Bluetooth backpack, the Bluetooth wouldn't work worth a damn?

are you saying that you are using a bluetooth phone on a Verizon plan that you
bought elsewhere? If that is so, then maybe you could be more helpful and less
critical and explain the process. Or do you get your kicks calling other people
names? If you are suggesting that I go to some other service, that is
presently not an option for me as regards coverage. and it has nothing to do
with being cheap.

It will be out in June. I played around with one the other day. Its a nice
phone, little bigger than I expected but still nice. 810 will be out latter
part of June also but it doesn't have BT on it.

Sure. Once you have a plan with verizon, you can do an ESN swap (activate
almost any phone, on the contract you have, instead of the one you have from
them).
I have several different phones, and swap the ESN's and use whatever I want
for that day (hour etc).
I got an el-cheapo plan with free silly phone from verizon, and just
activate others instead, on the same contract.

There is no need whatsoever, to only get a phone from verizon, unless you
want to get it cheaper or apply your $100 new every two credit, to whatever
phone you get from them.

There is one caveat though, you have to get a phone that is compatible with
the provider (IE you can't buy a GSM phone and try and use it on Verizons
CDMA network).

For Example, I got a phone from another supplier for my boat (at a discount
by the way), and just activated it instead of my el-cheapo/free Kyocera I
got when starting the contract. I got a PDA/Phone combo from a 3rd party,
and just activate it and use it at work.

Once you have an account with verizon, you can go to the website, click on
activate phone, enter the ESN of the phone you bought elsewhere, and about
10 minutes later it is activated instead of what you have. (I suppose you
could call CS and have them do it too, but I hate them and tend not to call
them if I can do it myself).

Just as a concrete example, I got an PDA/Phone from a 3rd party for $154.
Verizon used to sell them for $599. I did the ESN change online and used it
15 minutes after I got the box in the mail. That's a whole lot cheaper than
applying a $100 credit to $599!

For the Bluetooth enabled phone, My boat has one installed, and I have a
wireless Bluetooth headset. When I go boating, I just activate the boats
built in phone system, stick the earpiece in my ear, and motor off (sail
later, after out of the marina). If going on a car trip, my car has one
built in, I just activate it instead before I leave.

Sorry if I sounded bitchy, I just don't understand why people keep
complaining about what Verizon offers, when they can get exactly what they
want elsewhere cheaper and just activate it on their current contract.

What is the model of the bluetooth phone you have that can be activated on
the VZ network?

Not sure of the model phone inside the phonecell box itself, but it's a
telular system (they make a whole bunch of other things too, see em at
www.telular.com ), works with regular phones on the boat (fax and computers
too), and allows the Bluetooth headset while onboard (I assume so the
phone/box/case itself is weather protected, and/or the user can move
around). Friend of mine has one in his RV, always cracks me up when he can
be sitting by the fire, use voice dialing and say call "Jim" and then babble
away. :)

Well! Tell me any other BT phone working on CDMA. I think the only one
available and can be used is the Sony T608 which was used by Sprint.
However, I do not likt that one. Do you know any other CDMA BT phone?

KC: Will the Bluetooth on V710 be able to synchronize with PC contacts
and calendar entries?? Some prior comments on this newsgroup seemed to
indicate that verizon has requested the bluetooth feature be
marginalized in some fashion? Thanks for any info..Wayne

Peter: after all this talk about you have this phone, and that phone, I was
a little surprised that you could not identify the phone, although you
change esn's (one the web we might add) so easily, and frequently.

Would you please identify the phone and /or model that you have that is
bluetooth. For example: in my boat, I use a telular model xxxxx; in my rv
I usa a telular model yyyyy, in my airplane, etc...

Just a thought as this is such a long thread, and you indicate how easily
you use YOUR bluetooth, if you'd share the make/model then we would all
benefit from your wisdom.

Also .... I dont think that ANY cell phone would work. ie. I dont think
that GSm phones would work with verizon no mater how many times I give
them ESN (or IMEI for GSM phones)

obviously you have a problem reading and comprehending English.
Copied from the post below.."Not sure of the model phone inside the
phonecell box itself" .... gee, I'd guess it's a phonecell box (they make 3
for different carriers, this being verizon, and it works on my verizon
account, I'd bet on the verizon model), It's a friggen phonecell box! And
the name of the phone inside is not specific (they use various models). In
tellulars case, they use NAMES for models rather than numbers. Look on their
product list. Phonecell is on it. I wonder how many phones and what MODEL
have RJ11 jacks (for phones), rs232 interfaces for fax or computers, provide
their own dial-tone...

Do you know the make and model of every chip and wire inside any specific
model of phone matters? Or do you just care that it's a phone and it works?
What do you say when someone asks a model number of something that uses a
variety of parts inside, but you don't know which specific part without
opening it up? Sorry you feel that way, but as long as it works, I have no
intention of tearing it open with a crowbar to see exactly what parts are
inside. I gave the link and the name of the product, I see no reason
whatsoever to give a detailed parts list of what's inside. Have you ever
bought anything besides a cellphone? Many are model names, rather than
numbers. I'm gonna get in my GMC "Jimmy" (no model number, just name) and go
to Food4Less (store NAME, not a number), come home, cook dinner (BBQ'ng
Steaks, top sirloin, that's a name, not a number, on my Kingsford charcoal,
that's a name, not a number), and drink my Pepsi (that's a name not a
number) etc.....

When you change ESN's, the verizon site doesn't give a dam what MODEL # it
is, it just cares that you have the ESN.

Have you ever even used the website? or are you just a salesperson at a
store? Did you know that many companies make goods that can be activated and
sued on Verizon, or like I asked, are you a salesperson that only makes a
commission if someone buys one of the stores limited phones?

Hint: There are a whole bunch of phones that can be bought elsewhere and
activated on a specific carrier, I hate to see the myth that you can ONLY
buy phones from a verizon store for use on verizon perpetuated. Ever hear of
EBay?

Obviously you saw dr wireless's post rather than the original. The part he
snipped was "There is one caveat though, you have to get a phone that is
compatible with
the provider (IE you can't buy a GSM phone and try and use it on Verizons

Funny how that part was what you asked, but the idiot trimmed the post and
deleted one of the important parts.

Peter,

So, can you clip that Telular box to your belt and wander about the mall
with it?

Peter: So much information, you said most everything, so I'll be brief:
Someone who uses my-account so much to change their phone might notice that
the log-on screen always shows your current phone. If you go to account
maintenance, it will display your phone manufacturer and model. No big
deal, no research, plain and simple.

Your entire message has been left in-tact, in honor of your time/effort.

the dr. (with my apologies for taking this thread off-topic). I'm waiting
for the moto 710 at the moment to test it myself, and I liked the Moto 270,
but didn't have a bluetooth headset at the time.

I don't see Bluetooth listed as a feature for any of these five models.
Perhaps you could share if it's a feature that's just not listed for one of
these, or perhaps you have another model that's not listed (or that I was
unable to find) on the website?

Between the Moto v270c and the SE t608, there was also the SE t61c (which I
had for about a year) which had a BT dongle (BTA-10 if I'm remembering
correctly) available. Inelegant (just like the Moto add-on), and not
offically supported (SE only acknowledged it for the TDMA version), but it
did work per several newsgroup people who bought and tried it out anyways.
The phone was hampered however, by the fact that VZW never sold it directly
(it was approved though, mine even had the VZW logo on it) but instead only
through indirects.

With support like that, it's no suprise that SE dropped out of the CDMA
market before the next generation (of which the t608 and it's VZW twin
t606(?) were part) ever really got launched. Too bad.. it would have been a
killer candybar style color phone, basically a CdMa version of the GSM t610
that's been jumping like hotcakes the past year or so. The BT feature would
have just been a bonus, though there were rumors at the time that the VZW
version would have BT disabled, as had happened before.

Anyways, a little bit of history. Based on past experiences, if BT is a deal
breaker for you, just go sign up with the GSM carrier that's best in your
area now and get on with your life. If total coverage area is more
important, buy a data cable for whichever CDMA phone you choose and get on
with your life. The t61c is still out there, though very hard to find, but
it's a pretty old phone compared to what's out now.

It hasn't been hampered in any way that I am aware of but I guess its
possible, so can't say for sure.
