hi guys, just new to the forum. been using the site for a while but never posted before :)

basically my VRAM in my laptop is broken and there no way of playing games unless i get a new computer.

i mainly play SupCom and WoW and im going for a high end spec PC willing to spend £1000

so far i ave one in sight with:
- Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 GO 2.40GHz Quad Core CPU Overclocked too a minimum of 3.30GHz and beyond. (8/9 x 400MHz - 1600MHz FSB)
- Tuniq Tower 120 Pro Blue LED Intel approved cooler
- Arctic Silver 5 Heatsink compound professionally hand installed by our technicians
- Abit IP35-Pro Intel P35 (Socket LGA775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
- Award winning Crucial 2GB PC2-8500 CAS5 (2x1GB) Dual Channel Kit (Overclocked at 1000MHz+) (Note when upgrading to 4GB overclock drops to 3.25GHz on CPU)
- 500GB Western Digital 16MB Cache SATA-2 Hard Drive
- NVIDIA 8800 GTS 320MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) DirectX 10 Graphics Card
- Pioneer 112DBK 18x DVD±RW Dual Layer ReWriter (Black)
- Antec NINE HUNDRED Gamers ATX Case
- OCZ 600W Next Generation Power Supply

is it worth it or is there anything for the same money thats better, also will it run SupCom well at high graphics levels?

thanks alot

Again 8800GT is better for about the same price. Rest seems good. Yeah SuperCom will run very well on this thing.

I second the 8800gt, it will rape anything apart from an 8800gtx

go 8800GT, I have the GTS 320 (and Q6600) my fps with 5 supreme AIs in a rather large map after about 45min-1hr was still 25fps minimum. I haven't played since though, it's not my kind of game (was always playing SC and C&C while others played TA).

My old pc, P4 3.2Ghz 7800GS AGP was totally crap for playing supcom, i'd start out at 25fps on low, and 15min later be down to 12-15fps.

i play on full settings minus aa at 1900 * 1200 with a 8800gtx the framerate is v smooth it seems to me my cpu if anything is letting me down x6800 prob as i get slowdown when omni radar is first switched on if lots of units in its scan area and also v large battles calculation damage / ai etc

if you like to turtle then you better get at least 4GB of ram, the Q6600 won't need to go above 3GHZ to handle it, the 8800GT will do wonders, my 320 GTS runs everything maxed including 8x AA with no slowdowns.
