Good day,
I have an Enlight case with a 300W power suply laying around. Was wondering if it would be enough to power an AMD XP 2100 set in a Abit KX7-333 Socket A VIA KT333 Motherboard. Do I need to get a new case with p/s, can I just cange the p/s on the case, or is it fine how it is?

Thank you,
Dan

Could be, depending of the brand/quality of that PSU and how much hardware are you going to put in there.

Anyway give it a try and then think about getting a new PSU.

Thank you CMRvet,

I will try it. Going to put a 80 gig WD HD, 128 meg Graphic card, 512 DDR RAM, 40* CD ROM, Fast end CD RW, 3.5" floppy, a good heat sink, and a sound card. This will be my first build, how will I know if the Wattage isn't enough? (i.e. will it not post?)

ouch.... for that hardware I bet that it will be not enough.

You could see from a non posting system to random crashes/rebooting while gaming.

Thanks again guy,

I don't want to beat a dead horse with a stick, but...

If I want to swap out the p/s in my case can I buy any brand (if it is ATX) or do I have to buy from Enlight? If they are backwards compatible can I get a 430W or am I better off matching the wattage with my needs?

Thanks for all the help,
Dan

You should be ok with 300W

try it first, you can always get a new PSU latter. just so you know a bit what 300W can power without the scientific calculations that don't work out since the Rating of a PSU is more often than else overrated...

I run on a 300W PSU: 3 10K SCSI HDs,2 ATA100 HDs, a 32x CD-RW, an Athlon 1Ghz and various AGP cards plus various PCI cards for sound, network, SCSI, TV tuners, firewire, USB2 ... I swap them once in a while depending on the nature of my experiments... I'm talking about my "test" rig it runs smoothly.

you have a "brand Name PSU" I'm confident you can even add stuff in there.

it depend if that graphics card is a radeon 9700 i'd take a 340 watt psu caus this card need a power supply all of its own else a 300 watt would be ok

Remember the time You used 20Mb harddrives

You should be alright but it might be close. I run my system on a 350W PS.
