Asus A7V8X 8x AGP???

I just bought an a7v8x and I realize that it is supposed to be 8x AGP, their site says so and so does the documentation, but everywhere i look on my system it says it can only support 4x, SiSoft Sandra says that and my bios will only allow me to turn it to 4x. I suppose that may be because i currently have a 4x AGP card but even the monitor that came with it says "Slot type 4x". What is the deal?

ha of course it runs on 4X when you punt in a 4X card they have different voltage your else card would fry
