i have bought a Asus A7V8X/SATA and two WD 80 Gb-ATA 100 hdd's

Is the following raid configuration valid?

pri-raid controller: WD master
pri-ide controller: WD master
sec-ide controller: cd-rw master / cd-rom slave

no s-ata drives are used

the pri-master hdd is found by the bios and the pri-raid hdd in the raid setup.
but i can't select my pri-master in the raid setup to create a raid 0 array

I could be way wrong so check your manual closely but the normal setup for Raid 0 is to put 1st hd on Promise ide 1 master selected and hd 2 on promise ide 2 with master selected. Then I would put cdrw on ide 1 and cd on ide 2.

but then you work through one cable, isn't really raid i think?!

is it possible to adapt my hdd with a plug to be sata-compatible? and what should this cost?

nothing about RAID says the drives have to be on seperate controllers. It's still RAID, albeit less efficient.

It's always the one thing you never suspected.
