I currently have my game resolution set to 1280*1024, but it won't let me select anything higher. I have a 21" monitor with a native resolution of 1680*1050, but BF2 will not let me select this resolution. Anyone have any ideas?
I do think it has to do with your monitor, i have a asus 22" widescreen with maximium resolution to 1650x1050 and im playing tbf2142 at 1440x990 that the maximium resolution that the games let's me choose, however im playing at max specs and im getting 70FPS average.
The native display resolution of 1680 x 1050 is achievable in both BF2 and BF2142, however they don't natively support it in the in-game settings. . . if you want this resolution, use the modifications to the shortcut that are detailed in the widescreengamers website, but don't try changing the video settings in-game after that. I'm using a modified BF2142 shortcut to get my 1680x1050 resolution but it doesn't show that way in the video control panel within the game.
For modern LCD's it is better to use the native resolution. Whenever you use a resolution other than native, you are forcing a scaling of the image, which reduces performance.
