Will I see a big difference?

I'm currently running the following......

Epox 8KTA3 motherboard (KT133A chipset)
Tbird 850mhz
512mb/PC133

I'm replacing those with

Asus A7N8X Deluxe board
512mb samsung PC2700
Athlon XP 2000+

How much difference in performance should I expect?

You should see a big improvement! Just going from an 850 T-bird to an XP2000+ is a big difference. Nearly twice the MHz. plus you have the prefetching built into the XP Athlons. Right there you'll see the difference.

Then, going to DDR from SDRAM will significantly improve your memory bandwidth and keep the processor fed. The KT133 chipset was a pretty good performer, but it can't hold a candle to the nForce chipset. Overall, a BIG improvement.

Now, if all you do is write letters....
