Im just about to get a major upgrade for my current 700 Duron.
My new CPU will be somehthing in the range of a AthlonXP 1800-2000.

I dont know what Motherboard to get, since I dont know anything about different chipsets.

Here are the Mobos I can chose from:

ECS K7S6A - My current choice SiS 745 Chipset
ASUS A7S333 SiS 745 Chipset
QDI Kudoz 7-A/D KT-266A Chpset
QDI Kudoz 7E/333-A KT-333 Chipset
Chaintech CT-7VJDA KT-266A Chipset

Now if i would go by numbers, the KT-333 is the highest...but they all cost about the same, so I dont know what to get.
I will propably also want to overclock my CPU a bit...

Can someone tell me which one of these would be the best pick?

Hello. It would be better to get a XP 1600+ with a nForce2 motherboard than a VIA board with a XP 2000+. For one, VIA boards have instability problems. And two, nForce2 has superior onboard components. And lastly, but certainly not least, nForce2 boards will assuredly support upcoming 400MHz FSB Bartons - good upgrade path. Let me fix you up with something good:

Asus A7N8X (non-deluxe version) nForce2 motherboard ~$130
AMD XP 1600+ processor RETAIL ~$60
Two 256MB DDR333 SDRAM memory modules ~$130

Tweaks: Increase the FSB, in the BIOS, to 166MHz (333MHz DDR) remembering to lock the AGP and PCI buses. This will turn your XP 1600+ into a processor faster than a XP 2200+ - FSB more important than clock speed. Memory speed set to 166MHz (333MHz DDR) also. No latency in this case because FSB and memory speed are synchroneous. Remember to use two sticks of memory with the nForce2 mobo in order to take advantage of the dual memory controllers of the nforce2 - doubles memory bandwidth.

Cheers!

Yep, they have the board for sale here. Only it costs me 168 Euro. While the ECS board is about 90 Euro.

I was wondering though, if I should wait untill January to buy. Things may be a bit cheaper then, since there is some new stuff coming out now, and Greece is a bit behind, so it may get cheaper...

The 168 Euro board may be referring to the "Deluxe" version of this board. Look for the non-deluxe version. Should be considerably less money. Or the board from Leadtek, which is very good also, if all else fails.
