Just got a PS3 and would like to hook it up with my existing a/v equipment.
I have a Sony KP-51WS510 a 51" 720p/1080i TV (it has component vid inputs, a dvi input, but no hdmi)
I also have a Yamaha RX-V457 (it will take component inputs)
My main question is, should I use the Sony PS3 component adaptor for video and the attached stereo cables (red/white analog)? Or should I use the component adaptor for video and utilize the optical video out for digital sound? I plan on using the PS3 as my main dvd player for blu-ray, so digital sound is important for surround...
I guess my main question is, if I use the component video cables for 720p and optical cable for audio, will there be sound lag or anything like that?
If you guys can come up with a better solution even, let me know.
I have almost that exact same TV and I've got the PS3 hooked up with an HDMI to DVI video cable running straight to the TV and an optical cable running to my amp.
I've also hooked up the video with the red, green, blue component video cables and it will still do 1080i.
