There was a thread awhile back about games that people thought were the best to replay.. I thought it was a "feel good" topic. I get really into gaming stories, whenever there is good character development I can end up playing a game all night, well not so much anymore since I have a little one now :sleep: I wanted to know people's 3 favorite gaming characters:
Not in any particualr order mine are...
Garrett - The Thief Series- My favorite "neutral" character heh!!! :kaola:
Raynor-Starcraft- (Part 2 is finally coming)It's hard not to put Zeratul in there :love:
I also loved to hate Kerrigan
Detective Rick Deckard-Blade Runner- One of my first PC games.

Some off of the top of my head:

JC Denton (or is it JP? I can't remember)
Lara Croft (Hey - I gamed on PS1 before PC)
Diego from Gothic
Kivan from Baldur's Gate (I don't know why. He's just cool)
Geralt the Witcher is awesome.
Ian and Dogmeat from Fallout (I got attached to those guys)
Garrett the thief is definitely a great character.

I'll post more if any come to me.

In 30 years, i'll probably still remember playing Gordon Freeman.. (if I didn't get destroyed by aliens, nukes, meteors, heart disease or whatnot).

Raynor is also my fav character from starcraft, since Tassadar and Fenix are dead (sucks!), Zeratul is awesome too. The Overmind deserves a mention, because it was the most powerful being in the universe and just sat there looking like some fatty egg.

The guy voice from Homeworld Cataclysm lol, I loved that game, and the way he was freaking out when the beast was taking over the ship was great.

And KANE, the leader of Nod.

Well the most memorable commercial characters from my earliest days of gaming are "horace" who starred in a fair few games, and "miner willy" From there I think I liked Wonderboy I dont know if you could call it true character development, but horace had quite a few adventures, and poor old miner willy ended up with a dragon for a wife, and wonderboy also had plenty of adventures and became a little more manly as he progressed.

I think after that Blanca from street fighter 2 and raiden from mortal combat were both favourites of mine, moveing on from them I liked the guy from wolfenstein 3d he seemed to really have quite a thing for mayhem...

Other than that Ive generally liked playing games where you make your own character a lot and Ive got one particular character of my own Called Axel, who Ive been using since the days of playing Elite, he's quite the Pilot, having reached the rank of Elite several times, as well as top ace in x-wing, and having built up quite some empire in the X-series of games. Ive got a few cross game toons that I use for mmorpgs, I think Im more attached to these toons than I ever will be to prepackaged heroes...

Had to quote it, because he is awesome.

Fenix from Gears of War.
Cole Train was awesome too! (It's the Cole Train, baby!!! Haha!)

Can't believe this hasn't been mentioned yet:
Duke Nukem - Who hasn't heard of him?

DTQ, I thought about that after my post, most people are probably going to sway to characters that they have made, well because they are their own. I was trying to think of characters that I have may forgot about, which was part of the reason for my post.. I appreciated your thoughts though...

I remembered another one:

The floating skull from PLanescape:Torment. What was his name again?

Minsc was certainly memorable (although not my favorite BG character).
Aerie and Jaheira from BG 2?

The guy who did the voice from Dungeon Keeper 2 is also very memorable to me.

Morte

The Reaper and the Flowers: Henrey Wadsworth Longfellow

There is a Reaper, whose name is Death,
And, with his sickle keen,
He reaps the bearded grain at a breath,
And the flowers that grow between.

"Shall I have naught that is fair?" saith he;
"Have naught but the bearded grain?
Though the breath of these flowers is sweet to me,
I will give them all back again."

He gazed at the flowers with tearful eyes,
He kissed their drooping leaves;
It was for the Lord of Paradise
He bound them in his sheaves.

"My Lord has need of these flowerets gay,"
The Reaper said, and smiled;
"Dear tokens of the earth are they,
Where he was once a child.

"They shall all bloom in fields of light,
Transplanted by my care,
And saints, upon their garments white,
These sacred blossoms wear."

And the mother gave, in tears and pain,
The flowers she most did love;
She knew she should find them all again
In the fields of light above.

O, not in cruelty, not in wrath,
The Reaper came that day;
'T was an angel visited the green earth,
And took the flowers away.

or the version on level 15, if I recall.

Not in cruelty
Not in wrath
The reaper came today
An angel visited
this gray path
And took the cube away

I am told that there are also quotes from Emily Dickenson and Wystan Hugh Alden somewhere in portal, but I don't remember seeing them on my playthrough.

For you people who miss the cube, there's a certain pinup calendar...

I agree with Companion cube. But i can't believe noone has mentioned Alyx Vance...now that is a girl to live with. Couldn't imagine anyone better to be a wife, here's to hoping she's real and can cook.

Ill never forget about Tex Murphy and "The Pandora Directive" game series from Access Software.

At the time just to think about interactive movies made ppl say "boring", but these games were the best! Great story, great characters, immersive gameplay, probably the best adventure games i ever played...

"Gabriel Knight: The Beast Within" comes on close second in the interactive movie department.

Forget about "Phantasmagoria" boria-snoria...
