Hello, just a quick question just so I am 100% positive. Will the new AMD XP CPU's work fine on a VIA KT133A motherboard? I'm pretty sure it will work fine I just want to make sure. In the manual it says that it supports 133 MHz FSB and it has 266 in brackets.

The computer currently has a Athlon 1.0 GHz (7.5 * 133) and I just want to be sure I can throw in a XP 1800.

Thanks!

That's on the ragged edge.

It's either the 1700's or the 1800's that are the absolute limit.

I think it's more of a function of the voltage regulators on the board, so you have to look up that exact board and see what will work.

No matter what, that processor will function. But you may not be able to run it at the full 1450mhz or whatever. You may have to clock it down to 1300mhz or so.

Yes, it works with XP 1800+ (make sure your board have 11.5x multiplier and 266MHz FSB) but I would recommend DDR memory to use with XPs (you will need to change your mobo though).

Thanks for the help. We tried a XP 1600 on the same chipset and it worked fine however, the XP 1700+ goes over the 1.4 GHz limit that the chipset may (or may not) have. I have a multiplier up to 12.5 so that is fine and the motherboard supports a 266 CPU bus. I'm not going to try any higher then a XP 1800 due to the fact that I don't want to change the motherboard =)

But for now I'm just sticking with 512 PC133.

Thanks!

P.S Has anyone tried this? I have a D.F.I motherboard if that helps.
