Hey, i was wondering if anybody could help me out with the fps lag i get with cs 1.6, yes 1.6....
My PC's specs are 3ghz processor, 512 ram, 9800 radeon 128mb

I'm looking to be able to play cs with constant 100fps, it sometimes plays alright, with 100fps straight, but other times it commonly drops to around 30-40fps, i was wondering if i just needed to get another 1gb stick of ram, or if not buy a new pc.

I may buy a new pc soon, one that can run cs 1.6 with no problems, what kind of budget should i be looking at to either buy or build a PC capable of running 1.6 smooth?

it is almost impossible to hold any but the oldest games at a constant FPS. With that rig you should expect 100 fps ecxept when there are several players all on screen firing and throwing nades.

I beg to differ, the 1.6 scene is still thriving.

That rig of yours should comfortably handle CS:S, nevermind 1.6. Try adding another 512 of RAM.

hmm, doubt i'll ever switch to css, 1.6ftw :D

i may just buy another 512/1gb of ram as all i really want is a constant 100fps i KNOW is possible as there are many players who have it, it is an old game and it is a fairy decent rig for it and i have done everything in my power to stop the fps problem, you name it i've done it. So i might just go with the ram as aparantly 1.6 relies more on your ram rather than your GPU, thanks
