upgrade question

I have an Asus A7V-Vm board w/ KT133 chipset
currently it has a 1.1 200fsb athlon in it
using 256mb pc133 ram
will a xp2100 work on this AND if so is is worth
it performance wise ???
let me know your thoughts , thanks

Wait a little longer (to save up a little) and get a new mobo/ram/cpu combo. The KT133 chipset is not performance oriented and can be quite prolematic.

The KT133 does not support 133fsb. The XP processors ran at 133fsb. So you will not be able to run it at its rated speed without unlocking it and increasing the multiplyer.

You're stuck. You'll have to get a new board. If you want cheap, fast, and reliable, get the MSI 745 Ultra. But then you'd need DDR SDRAM. If you want to use standard SDRAM, you'll need a slightly newer old board. I have an ATV133 I'm looking to sell.
