COD 2 - Can't complete Pointe du Hoc

Been playing and replaying the Pointe Du Hoc mission ("Retreat? We're advancing in another direction." ) I can't get my squadmates to come to the trench outside the village, where the mg-42 is and the next task point. The smoke fills the battlefield, yet I can not get the next command to retreat (according to a walkthrough) and start the 5 min timer for reinforcements? What am I missing?

Thanks, but doesn't help. Been trying and trying. Don't know what I'm missing. I made it this far fairly easily.

I can suggest a couple things to check. First, are you using an X2 processor? If your COD2 is not updated for X2's you will have lotsa problems. If it is not updated or patched you can set the affinity to single core via task manager. The other thing to check as others have pointed out is goolge COD2 Walkthroughs. I sometimes have to restart level (Ugh?!).
