I want the A7N8X board but can not spend the money on a fast CPU now. I am thinking of buying a 1700+XP and one 512 DDR400 CL2 now with the hope of upgrading to a faster CPU and another 512 bank down the road. Does this make sense or would I be better off with doing duel 256 DDRs now? Also what would you recommend for a cpu fan? I am looking at the Thermalright SLK800 (want something queit). Thank you, any advice would be great, this is my first XP system.

good choice my friend that board is definetely unique so thats covered,...the athlon xp2700+ is also nice, as far as memory is concerned u definitely wanna go with the scenario of one bank of memory [make it corsair 3200 (400) or 3500(433)] ull be investing ur money more wisely in terms of future performance, later down the road ull get a second one and then ull think ull be dreaming,....plus fans will always remain fans and in other words noisy,....besides a very expensive and high performance fan for ur processor costs as much as a normal liquid completely quite solution, and if u want later down the road that is,....get the complete innovatek liquid cooling,...it'll be the cherry in the pie and ur most important and valueable investment as ull be able to use it long in the future.

IF ITS NOT A RIGHT ANGLE ITS A WRONG ANGLE

Get a 1600+ and increase the FSB to 333MHz. Two 256MB DDR400 SDRAM memory modules. Later you can add a 512MB DDR400 SDRAM memory module. A future upgrade to a AMD 400MHz FSB Barton processor.

It's your world kid!!!
