Problems when booting up after SP2

I have just installed SP2 on my computer with WinXP Pro.
Now, when booting into Window, I get a message box.

At the top is "Stop Device".
The message is "This application will not run in this operating system".
I am given the option to check OK.

I have checked using Msconfig and can't find a program called "Stop Device"
in the startup tab.
Any idea where it is coming from. This dialog box did not show up prior to
installing SP2.

Thanks for the help

Check the Event Log. Go to Control Panel->Administrative Tools->Event Viewer
and look to see what errors are listed. that should help to shed some light
on what is not liking SP2

Thanks,
There are two warnings given in the application log. one says a TraceLevel
parameter not located in registry (event 1003). The other says TraceFileName
parameter not located in registry (event 1800). When I go to the link
provided for support, it tells me that no user action is required and if I
want to stop this from showing up in the "event viewer", I can edit the
registry.
Not a lot of help. It does not tell me which application is causing it and
what to do to correct it or stop it from halting the boot progress.
I am glad I only installed SP2 on one of my computers. Until I figure this
out, the other 3 will not get the fix.

If you have any other ideas, I would sure like to hear them.
Thanks for the help.

You could try going to Start->Run and type msconfig
Open the Startup Tab and uncheck all the items listed then reboot.
If the error doesn't appear then go back into msconfig and recheck one item
at a time until you isolate the problem.

Have you had any luck with this problem? I also have this issue, and
I am trying to track it down.

Yes I have. I used msconfig, went to the startup tab and started unchecking
things during restart until I found the problem program. It took a number of
restarts to find the problem.
The program was not one that showed up in the uninstall software on the
control panel, so I found it in the programs folder of the c drive and
deleted it.
The program was for a flash card reader that used the floppy drive. I don't
use it anymore.
Hope that helps.
