I plan to purchase the ASUS P4G8X Motherboard with either a Intel P4 2.6, 2.8, or a 3.0 GHZ CPU Chip.

I do not plan to overclock so what what DDR Memory should I purchase?

Should I get Kingston 2700 DDR RAM or the top of the line Corsair CAS 2 333 - 400 MHZ DDR RAM with the Heat Sinks?

Greetings. The Gigabyte 8INXP Limited Edition motherboard is superior to the Asus board - praised for innovation and pure genius. Cheaper than the asus board also. Doesn't include firewire, but you can get a firewire card for about $15-$18. Hook it up with a 2.4B with C1 stepping (avail for $211 at Atacom, make sure you get the one that says C1 stepping in the product description) and you'll be all set. I would go for two Crucial or Samsung 256MB DDR333 memory modules - cheaper in price than corsair but still very good. Or two 512MB Crucial DDR333 memory modules, for a total of 1GB of memory, to make sure your computer is fitted for the future. Just be certain you get two memory modules to take advantage of the dual memory controller of this motherboard's chipset - doubles memory bandwidth.

I swore I would never overclock either, but now I do just to make sure I get the most out of my CPU. Using some simple FSB overclocking, increasing FSB to 170MHz, you can get this 2.4B to 3.06GHz. Not bad heh? Though, the 2.4B is plenty fast at it's default speed.
